Wales Walking Holidays is Anglesey Walking Holidays' sister company.
The original company Anglesey Walking Holidays, was set up in 2006 by Eurwyn and Gillian Williams to coincide with the official opening of the Anglesey Coastal Path.
In our opinion, walking is definitely the best way to explore Wales. Keen walkers ourselves, we have walked the whole Isle of Anglesey Coastal Path many times. In order to share our experiences, we decided to set up a service offering customers a chance to enjoy stress-free walking around our beautiful island.
In 2014, due to demand by a number of our satisfied customers, we decided to offer similar walking holiday packages in other areas of mainland Wales. Therefore, Wales Walking Holidays was set up.
Areas where we now operate include the Wales Coast Path , from Chester to Chepstow. Sections covered are the North Wales Coast, the Isle of Anglesey, Llŷn and Meirionnydd, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire, Carmarthen, Gower and South Wales Coast.
Our overseas visitors quite often fly into Dublin airport in order to savour the Irish delights before crossing the Irish Sea to Holyhead Port. We are agents for both ferry companies, Stena and Irish Ferries. The ferry tickets are included in the Anglesey/Wicklow package only, but can be booked for other packages no problem.
Eurwyn has always lived on the Isle of Anglesey, and his knowledge of the history and traditions of this area is an added bonus. Gillian was born in Porthmadog on the Meirionnydd Coast Path, but moved to Anglesey in the 1980's.
"We both realise how lucky we are to be able to live and work in this unique and beautiful area".
Both are fluent in English and Welsh.
We both come from a television background. Eurwyn is a television director and Gillian a script supervisor. There is no better therapy for Eurwyn, when he returns after a busy time in the Television Studios in Cardiff, than to come home to Anglesey to walk the Coastal Path. It’s an exhilarating and calming experience that we want to share with our customers.
Anglesey & Wales Walking Holidays have had regular features by the BBC (Radio and television) as well as local and national newspapers and magazines. The company is going from strength to strength. Over the years we have welcomed visitors from all over the world. People arrive as customers, but always leave as friends.
Responsible Tourism with Wales Walking Holidays
We have been practising responsible tourism since we first set up in 2006. With all our packages you can get to locations you would not be able to go by car, thus reducing carbon emissions. We encourage customers to travel by public transport wherever possible. Recycling and eco-tourism is a priority too. All our maps and guide books are recycled and the use of paper minimised as we prefer to use online correspondence with all our customers.
Mindfulness with Wales Walking Holidays
Walking has been proved to be a great therapy for mental wellbeing. It is so easy to rush through life without having time to stop and stare. Long distance walking allows you to pay attention to the present moment and your surroundings. It allows you to get close to nature and your body, making you more aware and connects you to the present moment. This awareness is sometimes called "mindfulness". Our packages can most certainly assist in improving your mental wellbeing.
